The Cheltenham Races mark the start of spring and the start of the social calendar! The shops in this wonderful Regency setting are ready for the Races – spring colours, hats and coats adorn these shop windows – Ladies Day preparations!
Montpellier Lodge is gearing up for the start of the season as all our new bespoke signature dishes are lovingly created with spring fresh, local ingredients in mind.

At Montpellier Lodge we love Cheltenham Race week – the style, the hustle, the bustle and the air of excitement! Montpellier Lodge will be offering a daily breakfast menu with our resident Tipster the infamous James Simpson Daniel ready to impart the best knowledge of the day! To set the race goer up for the day we will be offering our breakfast menu with a complimentary pint of Guinness or Lager or a glass of Fizz or Buck’s Fizz.
All for £10.00 the breakfast choices include:
- Full English Breakfast with Old Spot Sausage, Black Pudding, Fried Egg, and bacon
- Eggs Benedict with Toasted Muffin, Poached Egg, Serrano Ham and Hollandaise Sauce
- Scrambled Eggs and Smoked Salmon
- Toasted Sourdough, Crushed Avocado, Chilli and Poached Egg
The menus are set for the start of the season!
If you are avoiding the crowds for the day and staying in Montpellier, please be assured you can enjoy the Races from the comfort of our Lodge. We have a number of screens located throughout the restaurant, a garden marquee with bar and a lunch and afternoon tea menu, available all week.
Highlights include our open sourdough sandwiches of roast beef, tomato and watercress or our beer battered cod with crushed peas, lemon and fries or our charcoal braai serving steaks which are dry aged for 28 days and cut from Aberdeen Angus cattle.
The celebrations don’t stop there! The March Cocktail of the Month is the Smoked & Salted Espresso Martini which does sound divine plus continuing with the evening menu, a different Dish of the Day for each day of the Gold Cup, all full of spring inspiration and our Manager, Andrew includes his wine recommendations for each dish: –
Chateaubriand, fries, Portobello mushroom, green beans & peppercorn sauce £65 for 2 people
Beefsteak Club Meaty Malbec (Argentina) – Spicy, juicy and richly layered with well-integrated oak, fine grain tannins enhance the flavours and texture of a juicy steak £25
Wednesday – whole roasted lemon sole, brown shrimp, caper & parsley butter & steamed new potatoes £25.50
Spinyback Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand) – Sweet aromas of ripe fruit, characters of peach and apple. A full and viscous mouthful with good length. £24
Braised shank of lamb, dauphinoise potato, rosemary & red wine sauce £25.50
Moonstruck Shiraz (Australia) – Rich, with elegant chalky tannins, a lovely blend of blackberry and pepper, a spicy palate with wonderful length £24

To mark the end of the Gold Cup day, live music entertainment will be available all evening on Friday 16th March 2018 along with Friday’s Dish of the Day – Beef Wellington with truffle & parmesan mash…
